Conventionally, contaminated soils are excavated and treated off site in a soil treatment center. However, in quite some cases, treating soils on site is far more sustainable and economical. On site soil treatment can be conducted with different techniques of which Greensoil has specialized in biological soil treatment.
Biological soil treatment (landfarming)
On site landfarming is by far the most cost efficient and sustainable treatment method. Contaminated soil can be degraded by naturally occurring bacteria. However, natural degradation is often limited because conditions are not ideal by nature due to limited nutrients, oxygen and/or bacteria which inhibits complete degradation on short term. When applied in a good way, degradation conditions in the soil are optimized to such an extent that biological degradation of the contamination is realized within a reasonable time frame (< 1-2 years).
